Hey! I'm back. I been going through some stress lately and had to take a quick break, but now I'm good and ready to return to the blog. I can't believe how quickly college is coming and that I will soon be living on my own. I can't even do my own laundry, so I better start learning stat. There's so much stuff I need for college it's ridiculous. I'm having a hard time finding a sturdy trunk though, because the one's from target seem like they can easily break. Anyone have suggestions? With back to school also comes new clothes, although I don't really need to many. I did just buy an amazing necklace at Metropark though, which I can't wait to wear. I'm going to start making this blog more interesting, so be on the lookout for some cool new posts and for now I'll leave you with this video.
I absolutely love this song, even though I don't like Converse very much. Props on the lineup they got to make this song though.

Project Runway

So Orientation was pretty interesting. There was definitely a diverse group of people there, which is sort of new for me but a good thing. I met a few cool people, but not a roommate. The whole experience made me really excited to start college. For the past few days I've been learning how to drive. I was always scared shitless to drive, but I really had to start learning and now it's not so bad. I've been doing some dorm shopping also and I never thought it would be this hard to shop for a dorm. There's so much stuff I need and since I'll probably have the same stuff for the next 4 years, I'm being super picky. I'm sure I'll be able to get everything I need though.

Tonight, one of my favorite shows, Project Runway returns. It's the last season in NY, which I'm sad about, but so far the challenges and judges sound great. So not to spoil anything, you can check it out info on the episodes on the Bravo websites. This year's group looks edgier than previous seasons and a lot of the cast has really good backgrounds in fashion. Seasons 2 & 3 will always be my favorites. but I can't wait to see what Season 5 has to offer. Right now I'm rooting for Emily, who already has a really cute clothing line called Smoke and Mirrors, and Wesley, who seems to have a more classic style and interned at Marc Jacobs (an added bonus in my book).

Summer Obsession

If I could recommend one product to anyone, it would be Havaianas flip flops. They come from Brazil and are made of rubber. Their prices go from $16 and up and they come in a myriad of colors, styles, and designs. They are extremely durable and most importantly comfy. I started wearing them about 4 years ago and they have never let me down, nor have they broken. That is my collection above, and a few of those pairs are 3 years old and still in perfect condition. I seriously would not be able to get through the spring/summer without my Havaianas since I wear them almost everyday. You can buy them at stores such as Macy's or Nordstrom and online at their official website or Shopbop.

I'm off to college orientation at Pace until Friday afternoon, I'm so excited and will definitely report a little about it when I get back.

I did some shopping in the past week(every store was having like huge sales), here's what I got:

The end of a chapter?

These past 2 weeks have been hectic for me. Prom, Graduation, Parties, and numerous other things. I'm still kind of in shock I'm officially done with High School and that I'll be going into a totally different environment in the fall. Prom was so much fun and I'm glad I decided to go. Graduation was hot and I looked like a Roman God or something in my red gown and gladiator-esque sandals. When I received my diploma I felt a sense of relief, yet also sadness that I won't be with my friends every day. I also started freaking out because I thought they gave me a regular diploma instead of advanced regents, but it was written so tiny it was easy not to notice it, ridiculous. All my relatives and family friends have been congratulating me and telling me I'm done with the 1st chapter of my life. I feel like how can I end something when I still have so much more to experience. I don't see my life as chapters but rather one continuous flow of not knowing what will happen next. I have orientation for college on Wednesday and I'm nervous beyond belief. I'm not one to immediately jump into conversations wit people I know nothing about and this should be an interesting experience. Hopefully I'll have a real fashion-related post soon, but for now here are some pictures from prom and graduation.

Dress- I didn't want to spend a ton of money on one night so hooray for getting my dress on sale for $100 at Lord&Taylor, plus I already had the shoes and clutch. I actually got something else in place of all the money I saved on prom, but I'll show you that in another post.

Ahh yes what greatness it was to be in bright red gowns when its 88 degrees, 100% humidity, and 9 in the morning, not to mention they ran out of water for us and were left only with ice, but it was a nice ceremony none the less.

The Perfect Suit

Yesterday I attended two graduation parties. It made me realize my graduation is in one week and high school really is over. It also made me realize that I am in desperate need of a new bathing suit, or two. Somehow I only have one and it got messed up during canoeing in gym. Not being the tiniest girl out there, I have to resort to wearing tankinis. Their no the cutest thing out there, but it covers my stomach and works on me. I by no means have the body for a bikini, nor look good in a one piece, so tankinis will do. Here are my top choices for swimwear this year at different price ranges for different bodies.

Resort 2009 Part Due

The weather still remains gorgeous outside and with 3 days of school left I'm getting excited. The only thing that sucks is I have my math final the rest of the week and it's pretty hard. Oh and I have a 10 page research paper due Monday that I don't know how to write. And I still need a prom dress and I don't even know what I'm doing after yet. Yea, So I'll stop complaining now and get onto the fashions.

Derek Lam

Derek Lam's collection was simple and wearable with hints of inspiration from menswear. Featuring cool trenches and chic dresses, the collection seemed a little more early fall than resort.

Nicole Miller

Inspired by the city of Bali, Nicole Miller's collection featured plenty of color and fun prints. Always girly, this resort line featured plenty of dresses in all lengths and cute details.

Prada

Beaded detailing was the staple of Prada's resort line. Along with some printed pieces and a few bikinis, this collection was perfect for a chic vacation.

Roberto Cavalli

One of my favorite resort collections, Roberto Cavalli mixed bright colors and fun prints with tailored pieces and long dresses. I especially loved the ruffled details and the shades of blue.

Zac Posen

Zac Posen's collection featured pieces that contrast a person's personality from day to night. From crisp whites to colorful mixes, fitted jackets and evening gowns, this collection showcased a bit of everything.

Resort 2009

While most people are gearing up their summer 2008 wardrobes, the rich and the famous are focusing on the Resort 2009 fashion shows. Resort lines usually come out around December/January and are focused toward those who are lucky enough to go on vacations to warmer places around that time. While designers of all kinds release Resort lines into the stores, the main focus is on the well-known and high-end designers. Here are a few of my favorite Resort 2009 lines.

Stella McCartney

A mixture of simple hues and fun prints made this collection and A+ in my book. Set in a garden party setting, this unconventional show set forth what will be hot for 2009. My favorite piece? The sailboat dress on Chanel Iman.

Marc Jacobs

One of my favorite designers, Marc Jacobs took his love of fashion seriously with heart details throughout the collection. From simple jackets to intricate dresses, the clothes would suit one through various aspects of their vacation.

Christian Dior

Bright Colors and embroidered detail were the basis of Galliano's Dior runway. With inspiration of the 1960's in America and a slight touch of Bollywood, the collection offered a little something for everyone. Although a few of the pieces to me seemed reminiscent of Betsey Johnson, it was still a gorgeous collection.

Tory Burch

To me, Tory Burch is always there to bring a fun, casual, yet sophisticated look to clothing. Provided was perfect cuts and geometric prints, which seem perfect for a summer day. Don't forget to pay attention to the handbags, which are equally as charming as the clothes.

So I kind of took an undeclared hiatus, which I am not proud of it. I really wanted to update this like everyday, and I don't really know why it I haven't. Lack of ideas maybe, I'm not sure. Not too much has happened since I've been gone; did some shopping, took some tests, saw Sex and the City. I can't believe I have exactly one week of school left in my high school career. It's scary, yet exciting, but it's definitely going to be weird leaving the comforts of school. Even though my last full day of school is Friday, prom isn't till the 26th and graduation the 28th. I have decided to go to prom pretty much last minute through friends begging me to go and me thinking I'll probably regret it if I don't go. I don't have date, but neither do most of my friends so we'll all have fun there together. Now to just find a dress and shoes and whatnot, ugh. So yea that's just a little bit of catch-up on my life and I'll have a real post a littler later today. For now I'm going in the pool, the weather decided it was going to be 92 degrees in NY today and I for one am happy about that.

Costume Institute gala

Last night was one of the biggest nights in fashion, the Costume Institute gala. Hosted every year by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Vogue, this is one event the stars of Hollywood do not want to miss. This year's theme was "superheroes" and most of the outfits were far from disappointment. Although not everyone correlated with the theme, gorgeous dresses stole the spotlight. Included on the guest list were celebs such as Victoria Beckham, Blake Lively, and Emmy Rossum and designers such as Marc Jacobs, Giorgio Armani, and Zac Posen. Here are some of my favorites of the night.

I guess we can be looking forward to a lot of ruffled/ruched dresses this season, which is amazing because they are gorgeous.

So I decided to give the blog a little spring makeover. It's cheerier now and I figured it was time for a slight change. Obviously I suck at updating, but hey school keeps me busy. Speaking of school I decide I will be attending Pace University in Westchester, NY. I'm pretty excited and can't wait to start the next chapter in my life. I'll be majoring in marketing and since the school doesn't offer any fashion classes, I'll most likely take some classes at FIT in the summer. Speaking of college, the other day my friend made an observation that I never wear sweatpants. I replied with I wear them for gym. She then said what are you going to do in college next year when everyone is in sweats and your the only one dressed up. That started to get me thinking. Does everyone really wear only sweats in college or is that just a rumor? It's not like I think sweatpants are gross or anything, I just think they should be worn to either work out or lounge around the house. When I walk out of the house I want look put together and sweatpants just don't give me that feel. Actually I am guilty of wearing sweatpants twice this whole school year besides for gym, one time I was sick and had 3 tests so I just wanted to be comfy and the other time was on the way to senior trip in Washington D.C., but I changed into jeans at the rest stop. While most of the hype was about Gossip Girl this week, another one of my favorite TV shows comes back on tonight. That show would be Ugly Betty and I can't wait to see what happens. Since the show revolves around a magazine company, I figured I'd pick out some of my favorite magazines and show some things that I love about them.

Magazines are one thing that almost everybody enjoys, and you can pretty much find a magazine for almost anything. I read mainly fashion related magazines, but I believe my house subscribes to at least 30 magazines (hey most of them are free). From traveling and food to clothes and cars, we pretty much get a bit of everything. Sometimes I'll browse though a few here and there, but I mainly pick up these 4 magazines.

My favorite magazine would have to be Teen Vogue. They are always on point with trends and show easy ways to wear them. Unlike most magazines who only show expensive clothing, Teen Vogue offers a variety of selections, most of which one can just pick up in the mall. Their articles are well written, and focus on issues ranging from global warming to anorexia. The covergirl is always a positive role model in which people can look up to and in general the magazine has never disappointed me. I actually have every issue saved from October 2003 till now and it's always a great refresher to look back at them.

Another magazine I love to read is Lucky. It shows the best of everything from clothes and accessories to make-up and traveling. The magazine is always laid out well and keeps the reader interested. It also doesn't hurt that every month they have amazing contests and awesome discounts for online retailers.

With huge pages, W magazine is not only great for details, but also decorating walls. They always have unique fashion spreads and show the best of high end designers. I admit I don't always take time to read all the articles, because I'm usually more interested in their pictures.

I just started reading Nylon this year (free subscription from UO) and I really enjoy it. The magazine is slightly edgier than what I usually read and mixes looks from the runway with street style. Every issue features people and places from a different part of the world and they also have a great feature where they go behind the scenes at a factory (this month's was havaianas). This has easily become one of my new favorites.

Inspiration from Art

Senior Trip was amazing, and something I'll always have a memory of. Because I was so busy I didn't take too many pics, except on the last day. We had around 3 hours to roam around D.C. and the first thing I did, along with 2 friends, was go to the Art Museum. Consisting of two buildings connected by an underground tunnel, one building contains artwork from past centuries, while the other contains more contemporary art. The insides of the buildings were so gorgeous and peaceful, I really just wanted to stay there forever. There were so many gorgeous pieces there that we didn't have time to see them all, but what we did look at seemed to be some of the best pieces they have. When I was looking at a few pieces, I totally saw how they can transcend into the fashion industry today. Here are pictures I took of some of my favorite pieces and you can translate them yourself into whatever you want them to be. Sadly I don't know the names or artists of the artwork because I didn't have anything to write them down with.

This piece had to be one of my absolute favorites, I don't know why, but I love it.

Senior Trip

Tomorrow, er four in the morning to be exact, I go on my senior trip with my school. It's the last real school event I'm going to (besides graduation), as I will not be going to prom. I'm so excited and the weather is gonna be warm, hopefully. Most people are all ugh why do we need to do something educational?, but I actually enjoy Washington D.C. I've only been there once, but found it interesting and I'm glad to go back. We will also be going to Busch Gardens, so there's the fun factor. I'll be back on Monday, hopefully with tales and pictures from the trip. (btw, I got an 80 in AP Environmental this quarter, woohoo)

Spring Style: Get Printed

Just when I thought it was gonna start getting warm outside, its still super cold. I really need to move to a warm climate. AP Environmental is killing me and I have no idea what I'm doing. My teachers a psycho,the whole class is pretty much failing, but thank god the year will be over soon. That's actually kinda scary though, Senior Trip is in exactly 2 weeks (Washington D.C. and Busch Gardens) and then Graduation will be here before I know it. It's really quite scary just how fast life moves.And not just my life, but the people around me, the news, the fashion industry. It just seems everyone is just up and onto the next thing and I wonder if in the years ahead I'll just have any time to relax at all. I think I'm going to make a promise top myself to try and keep my life as stress free as possible from June through August and just go with the flow and see what happens.

One thing that is not relaxed is the prints that are in for spring. From global prints, classic floral, and everything in between, an awesome print can give your outfit a standout look. Don't go too overboard on the prints though, choose one key piece and keep the rest of your outfit simple. A top, skirt , or dress seems to work great.

Spring Style: Flat Sandals

Ahh, so I am completely horrible at keeping this thing updated. I really can't help the fact that I'm busy though. On Saturday I went to go see Cobra Starship and We The Kings. It was my first standing room only concert and it was soo much fun. Then Sunday was the bridal shower and I end up just wearing that printed jacket from target with jeans and flats. The shower was soo boring, I wish I didn't have to go but whatever, hopefully the wedding will be better. Then all week I've just been doing various tasks and homework. Today I had 2 quizzes and a test which was completely ridiculous but whatever. Today is also Pi day(3.14), so Happy Pi Day everyone! I made chocolate chip cookies with pi symbols on them for math and they were soo good. I'm finally going to the mall tomorrow, so I guess I can check out the hype that is Gilly Hicks and get spring clothes elsewhere. Enough about me, lets get talking trends.

Flat style sandals are not only chic and trendy, but also comfortable and easy to walk in. From patent to metallics, gladiator to braided, there's tons of options to choose from.

So take my advice to heart and go out and get yourself a pair of flat sandals, believe me you will not regret it!

Spring Style:Handbags

I'm so happy to have all my projects done with in school. Seriously doing 3 projects at once cause a lot of stress on me. Talking about stress I should be seeing if I got into University of Delaware within the next 2 weeks. Hopefully I did, otherwise Philadelphia University here I come. Ugh, enough school talk. The new style icon of the month is Kate Nash just because I love her so much and that dress is adorable. For the rest of my month I'll be doing a mixture of posts of whatever I want to talk about and then some spring style must haves. Today I will be staring with bright colored handbags.

Whether it's neon leather, colorful patterns, or a bold color, this seasons handbags definitely make a statement. They add a little spark to any outfit and are perfect for the Spring/Summer. It gets away from the white handbags a lot of people carry during these months and by carrying one you'd probably get soo many compliments. Here are some of my favorites:

Let's start off with Coach. A lot of people are not fond of the brand, but I adore it and they have some great spring colors in their leather bags. Here we have the Bleeker Duffle in Canary and the Madeline tote in Geranium.

Target

So Target was pretty much a bust. They had like one pair of black dressy pants and they were made like crap, the button was falling off. They had a a huge selection of the Jovovich-Hawk line, but not the dress I really wanted. I tried on about 15 things, but nothing was that amazing. The only thing I remotely liked was the blue vest with the yellow striped shirt underneath, but for the quality it wasn't worth it. I do keep thinking about it though so maybe if I still like it I'll get it later on. I did get 3 tops I liked though, two were $7 each on sale and the other was $25. I'll have to head to the mall sometime this week to get pants and maybe I can convince my madre to buy me some other stuff. I totally think I need to go to therapy for a shopping addiction. Anyway here's what I got.

It looks so nice now, I couldn't believe the amount of dust and old papers that were in there, it was gross. It's funny how cleaning makes you feel good and accomplished. As I was going through things, i realized I have every Teen Vogue from October/November 2003 and on. It's so fun to look back in them and see what was in then versus now. I'm going shopping tomorrow because I need to be something to wear to my cousin's fiance's Bridal Shower next week. I haven't been to one since I was little, so I'm debating if I should get a dress or pants. Hopefully I'll be able to stop by Target tomorrow (I literally haven't been in one in about 2 years), as the Jovovich-Hawk Go International line comes out tomorrow. I haven't really loved any of the past Go lines, but this one is soo cute. They have such nice stuff for spring and here are some of my favorite looks from the line.

I'm trying to change my style up a little bit and some of these pieces can help me do it for an affordable price. I'm especially liking the vests and the printed dress. Everything goes on sale at Target in store and online tomorrow.

I leave for Florida tommorrow and I'm so excited. It's supposedly going to snow here this week, so I'm so happy I get to miss it and be in the sun. I probably won't post while I'm there, but I might do a quick update or two. Anyway I don't think I'm going to recreate the looks of style icon of the month, just have him/her on the side. Oh and I saw Definently, Maybe this weekend and it was such a cute movie, everyone should see it. So yea this isn't that much of a real post but oh well.

I really have no good reason for why I haven't updated, just lack of motivation I guess. I've decided I'm just going to forget everything I was going to post about and start fresh this week. Updating this blog was a promise I made to myself, and I want to follow through. It's not like I have that much of an exciting life to write about and I don't have an amazing wardrobe, but I'll do my best to keep people interested and to keep them reading. So enough of me making up excuses and onward with the post.

It's been on and off raining here almost everyday and it made me realize I really want some rain boots. You hardly see anyone around here wearing them and it makes me wonder because they seem so practical. Maybe people think it's weird to walk around in a pair of rubber boots, but personally I'm craving them. With different styles and colors to choose from, where does a girl begin?

Well where I'm going to begin is with the basics. Hunter rainboots, or "wellies" as some like to call them are classic. With a good height and an array of colors, they seem to be perfect. I'm personally fond of the Navy colored pair. Find them for $98 at Shopbop.

Completly stylish, commonly faked, and pretty expensive are just a few words used to describe Burberry's rainboots. If I had the money, I'd snatch them up in a second because they go with anything, and from reviews, are amazing quality. Pick up a pair for yourself for $170 at the Burberry website.

For something with a little edge, why not go for some Chooka boots. With different prints ranging from tattoo inspired to plaid, all eyes will be on your feet. Get some at Nordstrom for $60.

Now I know some of you are thinking those are ridiculous prices to pay for a pair of rubber boots. A solution to that is these boots from Target. They only cost $20 and come in both prints and solid colors. I like the multi colored star ones.

Now I just have to decide if I want to buy rain boots now, is rain season almost over?, or wait until the fall. Ahh decisions, decisions.

Last night I watched the documentary Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton. It was a pretty interesting look into Marc's world, and the only thing I couldn't stand was him smoking around all those luxury goods, it was so gross. Day 5 of fashion week went off smoothly and of course even more great collections were shown.

Badgley Mischka combined classic pieces with stunning evening wear. With great metallics, awesome prints, and various accessories, this show was hit. There was tons of rich fall colors visible and I personally loved the gorgeous floor length gowns.

Diesel's show was very 80's rock and roll starting it off with Duran Duran's "Girls on Films". The show started out with mostly black and worked its way into other colors. There was tons of baggy clothes, as well as some slim fitted pieces and the show definently stuck with the diesel look.

The clothes in the Marc by Marc Jacobs show were a little more grown up, while the bags and accessories still remained young and fresh. There was tons of girly dresses and fun prints and men's detailed jackets. I was slighlty dissapointed, as some of the stuff you can easily find similar things in stores such as H&M right now, but we'll just have to wait till friday for the really good stuff.

Fashion Week Day 4

So NY is having quite a good week, fashion shows galore and the Giants winning the Superbowl. None of the morning shows over excited me(er some were good like Oscar De la Renta, but w/e), so we'll just skip straight to the afternoon.

One of my favorite designers, Betsey Johnson, was celebarating 30 years of fashion and gave a show through the decades, starting with the betanik feel of the 1950's. The designs went from black to the fun colorfullness and prints we all know and love. There was abundant dresses, as well as fun bags, glasses, shoes, and belts.The show ended with the models all walking out with bundles of balloons and Bestey not doing one, but two of her signature cartwheels.

Charlotte Ronson's collection kind of reminded me of an Urban Outfitters catalog, but nothing's wrong with that. She mixed girly and delicate clothes with bright colors and some awesome plaid pieces. I can't find a video of the show yet, but it seemed like a good environment and I'm sure had some awesome music playing.

Max Azria's self titled line was the third show he did this week and everything was still awesome and different from the other 2 shows. The clothes were all about looking sexy with see-through items, underwear as outerwear, and cinched belts. There was also gorgeous sweaters and well-constructed dresses. Using dark fall colors and awesome shoes, the Max Azria show was definetly a hit.

With well-constructed jackets, jeweled tone dresses, and just the right amount of shine, the Proenza Schouler show was a hit for me. It was slightly different then what they've done in the past, but I find it to be an upgrade. Accesorized with colored tights and shoes, any of the looks in the show could make an awesome statement for fall.

Fashion Week Day 3

Today is superbowl, so first off Go Giants! Anyway it seems each day of fashion week keeps on getting better...

Oh Mr. Max Azria can you do any wrong? In his 2nd show of the week for his Herve Leger line he has once again brought beautiful clothes to the runway. Gorgeous dresses with floral details and gloves on almost every model set the tone. You can tell a lot of details went into the collection and that's what makes it perfection.

Twinkle by Wenlan is one of my favorite brands, although i have yet to own any of it. Their clothes are cute, fun, and wearable and their fall collection did not dissapoint. With various prints, chunky sweaters, and lovely dresses, any of their pieces could easily become a wardrobe staple.

Diane Von Furstenberg had an early 1900's theme going, with clothes insipred form the 20's and 40's. Her famous fun prints were in sight, but she also had tons of sophisticated pieces too. Fashion Week Day 2

Have I mentioned how much I love fashion week? If I lived in NYC I would totally hang around Bryant Park trying to catch a glimpse of the action, but sadly I don't.

Today started out with the Lacoste show and they literally brought snow indoors. They started and ended the show with all the models coming out, which was a cute idea. The brand kept up with their appearence of preppy chic and I loved how they had "couples" go down the runway. It was definitely a good show to open the day with and once I again I saw that lovely color of yellow.

I've never heard of Mara Hoffman and I don't know why since the brand has apparently been around for a few years now. I was definently impressed by the show though. It seems as though the inspiration was india mixed with jetsetter and I loved some of the prints they incorporated into their looks. Oh and they used M.I.A's Paper Planes in their soundtrack which is an automatic plus in my book.

I'm usually not a fan of high socks or leggings, but Sass & Bide makes them work. With sparkles, metallics, paint splatters, and frills, this collection combined a rock edge with girly elements. I love the detail put into the pieces and and there was no absence of ROY G BIV. Rock & Republic brought a new element to fashion week with a full on rock orchestra playing in the middle of the runway.The designs were sleek and edgy, with very little denim in sight. The color scheme was mostly black, with pops of purple here and there. Fashion Week Day 1

The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection 2008 was also shown today (today is National Wear Red Day) which creates awareness for women and heart disease. Laura Bush led the show off with a speech and the runway was set up like a red carpet. Designers such as Marc Jacobs, Tracy Reese, Badgley Mischka, Michael Kors, and supposedly L.A.M.B. created red dresses for the show. Wearing the designs were celebs Heidi Klum, Maria Menounos, Ashanti, Liza Minnelli, and many more. Here is the video and some of my favorite looks.

With a diverse crowd, soundtrack and looks, Nicole Miller's show really bought a smile to my face. From the beautiful dresses to the cool jackets, everything looked great. And I'm especially in love with the hue of yellow she used.

Victorya Hong was one of my favorite designers on Project Runway this year, and I was upset when she got booted off. When I heard she was doing Fashion Week I was so happy and excited to see her collection. Her NA·BE line definently impressed me and was very cohesive and well constructed.

One collection I disliked from today's events was Erin Fetherston's. Her Target line was cute but most of her runway just screamed Grandma/Renaissance Fair inspired. I will admit there were a few nice pieces, but overall it just didn't do it for me. She really needs to step her game up.

Ramblings & Fashion Week

So my promise to keep this blog updated a lot has obviously gone out the door. I've been so lazy lately, it must be that "senioritis" kicking in. I promised myself I wouldn't slack off and I did, now my math average is a 79. I can usually hassle my grades up, but my teacher refused to give me an 80, so there goes honor roll for 2nd quarter. Oh and my AP Environmental teacher has been out all week with a broken nose, so who knows what my garde is in that class. I didn't read all of Metamorphosis for English because it's lame and I'd rather read Style by Kate Spade. I've been trying to take a lot of fashion books out of the library lately and read up on everything. From fiction to style guides to history, it's all so interesting. I love seeing how trends have evolved throughout the years and stories about people coming from nothing making it to the top. Speaking of style, I decided to change Style Icon of the Week, to the Month because a week goes by too fast and I'll probably run out of people before I know it.

NY Fashion Week starts on Friday, which means starting Saturday I will be glued to the tv watching the shows on UltraHD(ch.729) and frequently checking style.com. I love getting ideas for outfits and seeing what the designers think of. I can't even imagine all the hard work that goes into these shows, it must be such a hectic process. The shows I'm most excited for are THE HEART TRUTH'S RED DRESS COLLECTION 2008, BCBGMAXAZRIA, NA·BE BY VICTORYA HONG, TWINKLE BY WENLAN, BETSEY JOHNSON, NANETTE LEPORE, PROENZA SCHOULER, and of course the MARC BY MARC JACOBS and the MARC JACOBS shows. Style Icon: Rachel Bilson

When I first watched The O.C. I instantly loved the character Summer. When I began to see Rachel Bilson in interviews she seemed like such a cool person and had a good sense of fashion. Over the years her style has grown and I am such a fan of her outfits. No matter where she is going she looks well put together and on point. She's one of the positive role models in young hollywood and someone who I am a huge fan of. This outfit is great for winter and very easy to recreate.

L.A.M.B.

When I was 6 years old and heard Just A Girl by No Doubt for the first time, I knew they were going to be my favorite band. Gwen became an icon to me and I used to walk around saying " I'm going to be like Gwen Stefani when I grow up". Eleven years later I'm still as big a fan as ever, but definitely do not by any means have an amazing singing voice. The only thing I can do to remotely be like Gwen is go into the fashion industry. When I found out she was coming out with handbags in 2003, I was in 8th grade and pretty much flipped out. I begged my mom for one and then for that Christmas I got one and was ecstatic. It was my first "designer" item and that's when I really started taking a keen interest in fashion. After that she has come out with clothes, shoes, watches, luxury bags, and a perfume. Everything she has come out with has amazed me and I am proud to be an owner of L.A.M.B. products. Gwen will always be an icon to me and I will keep on supporting her endeavors.

One thing I love about the L.A.M.B. clothing line is that each season is different. Of course there's a whole lot of Gwen in all of them, but a different theme always brings each season together. Whether it be a pirate theme, mod theme, or rastafarian, the line is always consistently great. From the little details that go in the clothes, to how their displayed on the runway, 95% of the time the line is impeccable. Like every clothing line L.A.M.B. has it's flaws, but it always manages to bring out something that makes up for that. I'm now going to post a few of my favorite pieces from each season, and what pieces I'm excited about for Spring.

So mid-terms are finally over and we only have one day of school this upcoming week(Friday), so what better way to get over stress then some retail therapy. I've been in a pretty spring-y mood lately, so I opted to buy some new spring clothes. My camera broke, so I'll just use some stock photos. Everything is just pretty normal spring stuff(er well the belt is for winter, but it was $5), nothing too trendy. I really just has time to go to American Eagle and I got the amazing Dolce Vita sandals for $36! because the store that sells them was going out of business, but the shoes just came out. Definitely my favorite purchase of the year so far.

Katherine Heigl has been everywhere lately. Grey's Anatomy. Knocked Up, and now 27 Dresses. I cannot wait to see this movie and she looked stunning at the premiere. Her look is extremely expensive in her Bill Blass dress and Jimmy Choo heels. A similar looks would look great for a dance or formal event.

These shoes form Aldo come in a variety of colors, so you can either add a little pop to your outfit or keep it classy in a metallic or neutral color.

For accessories take things from your own wardrobe or head over to Claire's and get some cheap, simple pieces. A sophisticated clutch will add a great touch to the outfit and have you looking better than everyone.

Spring 2008

I know I just posted about winter fashion, but in all seriousness I cannot wait for spring. Lately I've been thinking how much a long for warmer temperatures and the sun shining, wearing flowy tank tops and skirts, and just how much I'm craving those 7FAMK sneaker wedges from the February Teen Vogue. All the resort and spring lines have been slowly creeping their way into stores and just seeing them motivates me to start getting in shape for the next season of the year. And then I reminisce the runway shows and pretty much sitting in front of TV watching the shows on the UltraHD channel for hours (I still tune in when they repeat them) and checking style.com just waiting for photos to come up. Right now a lot of spring ads are in the magazines, and here are some of my favorites.

So I love M.I.A. and I love Marc Jacobs so combing the two for the MBMJ S/S 08 ads was genius in my book. I opened up my Lucky magazine and fell instantly in love with this ad and wondered why this one wasn't going around the Internet and the other one where she was in more menswear type clothes was. Oh and this also has convinced me I need an over sized clutch even though I have no use for it.

This ad makes me want to go out immediately and buy a swimsuit. I'm not usually a big United Colors of Benetton fan, but the models used are gorgeous (Hello! Chanel Iman <3) and the colors are great. If I didn't already want to run to the beach, I do now!

I love how Fendi is focusing more on the bags and bracelets than the actual model. They really pop out at you and reinvent their baguette bag in a great way.

I always love Mulberry's ads and this one is no exception. They bring spring indoors and create a hip vibe, and both models are gorgeous. Plus who doesn't want a lobster on their bag?

I don't care how much people dislike these bags, I love them. Louis Vuitton has made a great ad once again and the yellow of the car really brings out the color in everything. It seems like extremely bright colors really are ruling this season.

Just Cavalli is another company who always does their ads completely well. Those shoes are fantastic and the setting is wonderful.

This is just a handful of what is to come for spring/summer and if you didn't already feel like shopping for the upcoming seasons, I'm sure you do now.

Winter Wear

So right now it is freezing here in New York. Layers are a must and Uggs (yes those ugly, yet comfy boots) are a necessity. Due to the weather people are dressing odd and if I see one more person use leggings as pants I will scream. Actually i hate leggings in general, but that's just a personal dislike. The fashion mistakes I see going through my high school are atrocious. I'm sure it's like that in every school, but it's so annoying. I'm not saying I'm some fashion guru or anything, but I don't understand why people are running around school dressed like a clown or some Indian from an old western film. And flip flops when it's snowing, I mean come on! I think parents should pay more attention to what their letting their kids walk out of the house in, or maybe the teens should just pay more attention to what their putting on. Anyway here is a list of winter essentials everyone should have, that will make you look good and not crazy.

Pea Coat - classic & timeless a pea coat looks good on pretty much anyone and will keep you warm during those cold months
V- Neck Sweater - I believe a V-Neck cut is very flattering and buying sweaters is various hues can make your wardrobe colorful and warm.
Sweater Dress - they're in this year and see everyone wearing them, if your going to wear on choose a flattering shape and then add fun accessories and colored opaque tights to finish off the look.
Jeans- you can never go wrong with jeans. Dark washes are perfect for winter, whether you go skinny or wide they can add simplicity to your look.
Boots - find a warm pair of boots to wear. UGGs are impractical for snow, so why not going for something more durable instead. Wellies seem pretty sufficient for the wintry weather.
Jewel Tones - of course you see a lot of gray and black in the winter, but not go for a richer color. Deep purples and pinks can brighten up you wardrobe and colors such as emerald green will bring a refreshing outlook to winter.
Layering - do not be afraid to layer, it can look good. Throw a tank top over a solid long sleeved shirt or even just through a cute cardigan over your outfit. layers will help keep you warm and are a winter accessory.

A lot of people believe there's not much you can wear in winter, but the possibilities are endless. Start with basics, find your style, and then go crazy(but not too crazy). Just because the spring lines are showing up in the stores does not mean you should run and buy them, instead find the great winter items on sale because there's still 3 months of winter ahead.

Style Icon: Mischa Barton

So I decided to come up with the feature Style Icon Of The Week. Every week I'll put up a new person, whether it be male or female, and then recreate their look with affordable pieces in a post.

Ever since her days on The O.C., Mischa Barton has been a star girls have looked up to for style advice. Although she's had some bumps down the road, she seems to always look good. Here we see her in a more laid back look, that anyone can easily pull off.

A new beginning

So first off Happy New Year! As one of my resolutions I decided I wanted to open a blog and keep it updated as much as possible. For me 2008 will be all about change and I know that sounds cheesy, but I really do want to make a transition. Not only is this blog something new for me, but I'm also going to try and make my style more sophisticated yet trendy and hopefully shed off some extra pounds. With the pressures of adulthood emerging, this will be a great outlet to talk about things I love. Here I'll cover everything from what I'm wearing and listening to, to the latest trends and news about the fashion industry. I hope you all enjoy this and thanks to anyone whose reading.
