The end of a chapter?

These past 2 weeks have been hectic for me. Prom, Graduation, Parties, and numerous other things. I'm still kind of in shock I'm officially done with High School and that I'll be going into a totally different environment in the fall. Prom was so much fun and I'm glad I decided to go. Graduation was hot and I looked like a Roman God or something in my red gown and gladiator-esque sandals. When I received my diploma I felt a sense of relief, yet also sadness that I won't be with my friends every day. I also started freaking out because I thought they gave me a regular diploma instead of advanced regents, but it was written so tiny it was easy not to notice it, ridiculous. All my relatives and family friends have been congratulating me and telling me I'm done with the 1st chapter of my life. I feel like how can I end something when I still have so much more to experience. I don't see my life as chapters but rather one continuous flow of not knowing what will happen next. I have orientation for college on Wednesday and I'm nervous beyond belief. I'm not one to immediately jump into conversations wit people I know nothing about and this should be an interesting experience. Hopefully I'll have a real fashion-related post soon, but for now here are some pictures from prom and graduation.

Dress- I didn't want to spend a ton of money on one night so hooray for getting my dress on sale for $100 at Lord&Taylor, plus I already had the shoes and clutch. I actually got something else in place of all the money I saved on prom, but I'll show you that in another post.

Ahh yes what greatness it was to be in bright red gowns when its 88 degrees, 100% humidity, and 9 in the morning, not to mention they ran out of water for us and were left only with ice, but it was a nice ceremony none the less.

The Perfect Suit

Yesterday I attended two graduation parties. It made me realize my graduation is in one week and high school really is over. It also made me realize that I am in desperate need of a new bathing suit, or two. Somehow I only have one and it got messed up during canoeing in gym. Not being the tiniest girl out there, I have to resort to wearing tankinis. Their no the cutest thing out there, but it covers my stomach and works on me. I by no means have the body for a bikini, nor look good in a one piece, so tankinis will do. Here are my top choices for swimwear this year at different price ranges for different bodies.

They should have a fun print or detail on top and then keep it simple on the bottom,

Resort 2009 Part Due

The weather still remains gorgeous outside and with 3 days of school left I'm getting excited. The only thing that sucks is I have my math final the rest of the week and it's pretty hard. Oh and I have a 10 page research paper due Monday that I don't know how to write. And I still need a prom dress and I don't even know what I'm doing after yet. Yea, So I'll stop complaining now and get onto the fashions.

Derek Lam

Derek Lam's collection was simple and wearable with hints of inspiration from menswear. Featuring cool trenches and chic dresses, the collection seemed a little more early fall than resort.

Nicole Miller

Inspired by the city of Bali, Nicole Miller's collection featured plenty of color and fun prints. Always girly, this resort line featured plenty of dresses in all lengths and cute details.

Prada

Beaded detailing was the staple of Prada's resort line. Along with some printed pieces and a few bikinis, this collection was perfect for a chic vacation.

Roberto Cavalli

One of my favorite resort collections, Roberto Cavalli mixed bright colors and fun prints with tailored pieces and long dresses. I especially loved the ruffled details and the shades of blue.

Zac Posen

Zac Posen's collection featured pieces that contrast a person's personality from day to night. From crisp whites to colorful mixes, fitted jackets and evening gowns, this collection showcased a bit of everything.

Resort 2009

While most people are gearing up their summer 2008 wardrobes, the rich and the famous are focusing on the Resort 2009 fashion shows. Resort lines usually come out around December/January and are focused toward those who are lucky enough to go on vacations to warmer places around that time. While designers of all kinds release Resort lines into the stores, the main focus is on the well-known and high-end designers. Here are a few of my favorite Resort 2009 lines.

Stella McCartney

A mixture of simple hues and fun prints made this collection and A+ in my book. Set in a garden party setting, this unconventional show set forth what will be hot for 2009. My favorite piece? The sailboat dress on Chanel Iman.

Marc Jacobs

One of my favorite designers, Marc Jacobs took his love of fashion seriously with heart details throughout the collection. From simple jackets to intricate dresses, the clothes would suit one through various aspects of their vacation.

Christian Dior

Bright Colors and embroidered detail were the basis of Galliano's Dior runway. With inspiration of the 1960's in America and a slight touch of Bollywood, the collection offered a little something for everyone. Although a few of the pieces to me seemed reminiscent of Betsey Johnson, it was still a gorgeous collection.

Tory Burch

To me, Tory Burch is always there to bring a fun, casual, yet sophisticated look to clothing. Provided was perfect cuts and geometric prints, which seem perfect for a summer day. Don't forget to pay attention to the handbags, which are equally as charming as the clothes.

Sorry for the Delay

So I kind of took an undeclared hiatus, which I am not proud of it. I really wanted to update this like everyday, and I don't really know why it I haven't. Lack of ideas maybe, I'm not sure. Not too much has happened since I've been gone; did some shopping, took some tests, saw Sex and the City. I can't believe I have exactly one week of school left in my high school career. It's scary, yet exciting, but it's definitely going to be weird leaving the comforts of school. Even though my last full day of school is Friday, prom isn't till the 26th and graduation the 28th. I have decided to go to prom pretty much last minute through friends begging me to go and me thinking I'll probably regret it if I don't go. I don't have date, but neither do most of my friends so we'll all have fun there together. Now to just find a dress and shoes and whatnot, ugh. So yea that's just a little bit of catch-up on my life and I'll have a real post a littler later today. For now I'm going in the pool, the weather decided it was going to be 92 degrees in NY today and I for one am happy about that.

Costume Institute gala

Last night was one of the biggest nights in fashion, the Costume Institute gala. Hosted every year by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Vogue, this is one event the stars of Hollywood do not want to miss. This year's theme was "superheroes" and most of the outfits were far from disappointment. Although not everyone correlated with the theme, gorgeous dresses stole the spotlight. Included on the guest list were celebs such as Victoria Beckham, Blake Lively, and Emmy Rossum and designers such as Marc Jacobs, Giorgio Armani, and Zac Posen. Here are some of my favorites of the night.





I guess we can be looking forward to a lot of ruffled/ruched dresses this season, which is amazing because they are gorgeous.

No sweatpants for me please.

So I decided to give the blog a little spring makeover. It's cheerier now and I figured it was time for a slight change. Obviously I suck at updating, but hey school keeps me busy. Speaking of school I decide I will be attending Pace University in Westchester, NY. I'm pretty excited and can't wait to start the next chapter in my life. I'll be majoring in marketing and since the school doesn't offer any fashion classes, I'll most likely take some classes at FIT in the summer. Speaking of college, the other day my friend made an observation that I never wear sweatpants. I replied with I wear them for gym. She then said what are you going to do in college next year when everyone is in sweats and your the only one dressed up. That started to get me thinking. Does everyone really wear only sweats in college or is that just a rumor? It's not like I think sweatpants are gross or anything, I just think they should be worn to either work out or lounge around the house. When I walk out of the house I want look put together and sweatpants just don't give me that feel. Actually I am guilty of wearing sweatpants twice this whole school year besides for gym, one time I was sick and had 3 tests so I just wanted to be comfy and the other time was on the way to senior trip in Washington D.C., but I changed into jeans at the rest stop.
